PIE CRUST
(Karii's grandmother Frances used margarine back in the day…it was supposed to be better for you back then….)
3 cups flour, sifted
1 ½ cups butter
½ teasp. salt
1 egg
1 T. white vinegar
Water as needed (1-2 T. usually)
I use a pastry blender to mix the butter into the flour and salt. I mix the egg and vinegar together and add that. I’ve been adding a bit more water lately. I let it sit in the fridge for at least one hour, and it still shrinks, and I lose the crimped edge definition on my pies… it tastes great though.
